How the count works
The same rule is used across this site: today counts, and Christmas Day does not. So if it is a Friday when you check, that Friday is included in the total, and the last day counted is December 24.
That matters in 2026, because Christmas Day itself falls on a Friday. The last Friday before Christmas is December 18, and it is the final working Friday for many people. Black Friday is on November 27, and the Fridays in November and December 2026 before Christmas are November 6, November 13, November 20, November 27, December 4, December 11 and December 18.
Counts from the first of each month in 2026
| From | Mondays | Fridays | Saturdays | Sundays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| October 1 | 12 | 12 | 12 | 12 |
| November 1 | 8 | 7 | 7 | 8 |
| December 1 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 |
To count from any other date or year, use the days until Christmas calculator. For a total in weeks, see how many weeks until Christmas.
If you are planning around the last day of school or work, the Christmas break countdown takes your own date.
Frequently asked questions
How many Mondays until Christmas?
Choose Mondays in the box on this page to see today's count and the dates. Mondays are counted the same way as Fridays: today is included if it is a Monday, and the count stops at Christmas Eve.
How many weekends until Christmas?
The page counts the Saturdays left as weekends, so a weekend already under way on Sunday is not included. From December 1, 2026 there are 3 weekends left: December 5, 12 and 19.
Is Christmas Day counted as a Friday in 2026?
No. Christmas Day is the finish line, so it is not counted. December 18 is the last Friday before Christmas 2026.
When is the last Friday before Christmas?
In 2026 it is December 18. In 2027, when Christmas falls on a Saturday, it is December 24, Christmas Eve.
Does this work for next year?
Yes. After Christmas Day the page counts toward the next Christmas automatically.
